A Question

Hi all,

A new post is coming in the way, but there is a lack of electricity these days in Baghdad, and I also didn't finish writing the post yet. So it might take a couple of days to be published. So, while waiting for the new post.. here's a question for you. I will be glad to get some detailed answeres.

- If you were to choose one of the following, what would you choose? To hurt someone's feeling, or to be hurt ?! Why?

See ya :)

The two basic emotions that rule our lives are pain and pleasure.
We shy away from pain and are drawn to pleasure.

Either choice will bring pain to myself...(being the modest gentleman that I am)
I shall choose to be hurt and thus derive some small measure of pleasure knowing the other is free of pain.

I'd have to know more.

I would have to choose myself. Because the other has no say in the matter.

It all depends on the situation. Let's say you're in a relationship that's not going anywhere.

What's the best way to handle this situation? Would you keep going waiting for the other side to say it's over? Would you take control of your life and say to the other side the road is closed and we need to depart here? I'd go with the second option. It may hurt both sides. But you'll be truthful to yourself this way.

I hope I didn't confuse you with my first comment on your blog :-)

Fayrouz, you welcome here :) I would choose the second option as well.

Here's my answer..

I would choose to be hurt, cuz the one who hurts is an oppressive person, and people hate the oppressive. And I don't want people to hate me. Besides, to be hurt is not an everlasting situation, and it must end sooner or later.. and we can learn from such experience.

I would like to choose my self because I always think I can bear it but may some one can't.

I've been in both places. It took me a year to decide I have to move on and face reality when I was hurt. But when I hurt someone I didn't dump him, I just said no to the relationship and here comes the guilt.
What I am sure of is I don't want to live those feelings again.

I would prefer to choose myself- but there are some situations where in order to tell the truth, you must hurt the other person.

to lie in order to save someone pain may be a selfless act, but may not be the right thing to do.
